Technical White Papers

Sometimes you need (or want) more information than you can find in a CD wrapper or an install manual. And for those of you who do want a full complement of technical details to accompany your outstanding products, we've included three new technical white papers with this month's subscription. Find what you need with:

  • Measuring Return on Investment for Business Service Management: Business Service Management solutions from Novell (formerly Managed Objects) are powerful tools for simplifying the complexities that come with managing an IT infrastructure. Business Service Management (BSM) enables organizations to evolve away from managing IT as a series of infrastructure components to a more efficient process of managing IT as a set of services aligned with, and delivered to, the business. This change brings measurable and substantive benefits to both IT and the business. Find out how you can measure and increase your ROI in this informative white paper.

  • Novell Sentinel Active Event Monitoring for Improved Security and Compliance Management: This white paper explores Novell Sentinel and how it delivers a comprehensive security information and event management (SIEM) solution. And now, Novell Sentinel Rapid Deployment offers a powerful new way for the Sentinel application to be quickly and easily installed on a single machine—without requiring a connection to an external database. Novell Sentinel provides a real-time, holistic view of security and compliance health across any IT environment and from virtually any data source. This allows administrators to identify both external and internal security threats and compliance-related breaches of all kinds. With Sentinel, administrators can take immediate action to address weaknesses based on roles, regulatory requirements and business policies.

  • Software Implementation Revolutionized: This paper explores the challenges of traditional development and maintenance processes, reveals how ISVs gain tremendous financial returns from moving to the appliance model and illustrates real-world examples where these benefits are being achieved today.

You need innovative, mature solutions to meet your organization's needs, which is why we, along with the open source community, are continuously working to deliver extra functionalities, tools and plugins to ensure your Novell products are ready for any challenge. • adds the current user to the staff group

    • adds certain users to the local administrators group based on eDirectory group membership

    • autopopulates GroupWise information

  • LDAP Event Monitoring: This cool solution will give the details of every LDAP event on what it does and what data it returns.

  • LogiTester: This cool solution is a simple JSP application that allows you to configure multiple LDAP trees and send compare or authentication requests to all LDAP sources simultaneously.

  • NDS ACL List Copy: NDS ACL List Copy is a VB6 tool that automates the copying of large (or small) trustee lists from one NDS objects to another.
