Subscription Management Questions

How do subscriptions work?

If you purchase a Novell Technical Subscription which includes physical deliverables, you will receive a welcome kit within 5 to 10 business days of purchasing or activating your subscription and you receive immediate Subscriber Portal access.

The welcome kit includes the complete and current set of CDs and DVDs for your subscription. Regular updates, which include new products and resources, will follow. The frequency of updates varies depending on your particular subscription(s). For example, Novell Professional Resource Suite' updates ship monthly and Novell Software Evaluation & Development Library updates ship every 2 months.

The Subscriber Portal always contains the most current and complete set of software and technical resources for your subscription.

If you purchase or are assigned an electronic subscription, you receive immediate access to technical resources, online via the Subscriber Portal. Your online access is maintained until your subscription expires.

Can I upgrade my subscription to a higher level?

Yes. You can upgrade all subscriptions, even those received as an entitlement, to Novell Tech Select Service or to the Novell Professional Resource Suite (NPRS). To upgrade now, click here.

Can I upgrade even though my subscription is not up for renewal?

Yes. If you have an NSRL, NSEDL or Toolkit and would like to upgrade to the NPRS, you may apply the remaining months of your current subscription toward the upgrade.

How will I know when I need to renew my subscription?

You will receive a renewal notice 120 days before your yearly subscription is due to expire.

I receive my subscription as a free entitlement; do I need to renew?

If you receive your subscription as a free entitlement to a Premium Support, MLA, PartnerNet or CNI contract, you do not need to renew your subscription as long as you renew your contract.

If you receive your subscription as a free entitlement to a CLA contract, your subscription will NOT be automatically extended. After the first year, a CLA customer who spends U.S. $25,000 or more (retail) qualifies for a free NSRL or NSEDL. A CLA customer who spends $50,000 or more qualifies for both the NSRL and the NSEDL. However, the renewal is NOT automatic; you must e-mail subscriptions@novell.com. Please include your company name, CLA number, and your requested free subscription(s). We will verify that you qualify and will notify you if you don't.
