Novell software

New Software

Try the latest Novell® software! This month's update ships with the following products:

Novell Linux Small Business Suite

Novell Linux Small Business Suite brings the best of Novell technology to small businesses—now on the Linux platform, popular for its flexibility, reliability and manageability. Like its NetWare counterpart, Novell Linux Small Business Suite is a complete collection of proven, productivity-enhancing products tailored to the needs and budget of the small business. In fact, it is the only Linux end-to-end, server-to-desktop solution specifically designed for small businesses. Based on SUSE™; LINUX Enterprise Server 9, the suite includes Novell Linux Desktop, powered by SUSE LINUX; Novell eDirectory™; 8.7.3; Novell GroupWise® 6.5; Novell iManager 2.0.2; and Apache HTTP Server 2.0. Turn your focus back to what matters most—running your business—instead of your underlying technology.

Novell exteNd™; 5.2.1

Novell exteNd 5.2 is a comprehensive suite for the rapid development and deployment of service-oriented Web applications. With Novell exteNd 5.2, corporate application developers can powerfully combine identity, integration and portal services to securely deliver relevant business information, at the appropriate time, to the right people. In addition, you can

  • protect your investments in systems and people
  • facilitate business agility with faster time-to-market
  • improve business efficiency while maintaining security

Novell exteNd 5.2.1 adds support for deploying JBoss 4.x and support for design and deployment on SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9, among other enhancements.

NICI

NICI Encryption Modules are components of the Novell International Cryptographic Infrastructure (NICI). In addition to making the distribution of NetWare 5.x simpler, the modular design of NICI also makes it easier for software vendors to comply with international and U.S. laws governing the import and export of cryptographic software. Network applications written to take advantage of the network NICI security services need not include their own encryption code, so a single version can be shipped throughout the world. This greatly simplifies the export-approval process and eases the distribution of network software.

Migration Wizard

NetWare® Migration Wizard 8.0 is a user-friendly utility that simplifies and accelerates the migration of data from older servers to newer hardware. With Migration Wizard, you can migrate entire volumes or specific directories within volumes from earlier versions of NetWare to later ones. With the Migration Wizard, you model your migration project using simple drag-and-drop procedures before you actually perform the migration. This helps prevent errors from interrupting your data migration and allows you to correct mistakes before they happen. Because of its versatility, Migration Wizard 8.0 eliminates the complexities that often accompany the migration and upgrade processes. New features found in version 8.0 help you do the following:

  • Filter the files you want to copy according to the date
  • Exclude specific file types or file names from the copy process
  • Synchronize file and folders so that data deleted after you run a migration project is also deleted on the destination server if you run the project again
  • Automatically compare file information between the source and destination after the copy process is complete to validate the integrity of the file copy

This release also includes NetWare Migration Wizard 6.5.

Novell Server Consolidation Utility 4.0

Novell Server Consolidation Utility 4.0 is a file and print consolidation tool that helps you reorganize your network by copying data from any number of existing source servers to a smaller number of destination servers. Supported source servers include NetWare 4.2, 5.1 and 6.x servers. Supported destinations include NetWare 5.1 and 6.x servers, a NetWare Cluster/SAN, a Novell Nterprise Branch Office appliance, and NetWare- and Linux-based Novell Open Enterprise Server.
