Advanced Resources

Technical White Papers

This month's release includes 6 new white papers which are sure to help you sharpen your knowledge of Novell products and solutions:

  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on Amazon EC2 lays out the aggregate value proposition for this platform, which brings together the distinctive features and benefits of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server in a uniquely well-integrated, convenient, and aggressively priced solution.

  • Streamline Your Windows* 7 Migration with Novell ZENworks® 11: Major desktop operating system migrations are never easy. But with a smart strategy, a best practices approach and the right migration, maintenance, security and service management tools, you can take advantage of everything Windows 7 has to offer with minimal disruptions to your business. Novell ZENworks 11 is ready to support and enhance your migration efforts with full support for Windows 7 and a comprehensive range of advanced discovery, inventory, packaging, deployment and desktop management capabilities.

  • A Practical Guide to Cost Effective Disaster Recovery Planning: The global recession, increased competition requiring just-in-time processes, squeezed information technology (IT) budgets, explosive data growth, and new regulatory requirements have all increased the importance of disaster recovery (DR). As a result, organizations are now under pressure to create, re-evaluate and update their disaster recovery plans. Looking across the DR industry today, there are hundreds of solutions whose value should be measured in three ways: cost, performance and risk.

  • Novell Vibe™ OnPrem 3 brings the right people with the right skills together in secure, online workspaces where they can interact easily. The Vibe OnPrem workspace serves as a digital "office" where team members, working locally or dispersed geographically, can gather to coordinate their efforts, information, resources and skill sets toward the completion or maintenance of a project, purpose or topic of interest. Vibe OnPrem ensures that the collective knowledge of any skilled group is never lost, and leverages the synergies of skills, ideas and inspiration to accomplish goals quickly and effectively.

  • Novell Cloud Manager with Service Level Management from Novell Operations Center states requirements, defines nomenclature and provides implementation guidelines for managing service level agreements (SLAs) using Novell Operations Center for private clouds built using Novell Cloud Manager.

  • Novell Access Management Federated Identity Technology: Identity and access management is certainly not a new topic. Enterprises have been making significant investments in provisioning, single sign-on, password management and other access-related technologies for years in an attempt to lower their IT administrative costs and provide safer, easier and more appropriate access to computing resources. But cloud computing and other major shifts in the enterprise computing landscape keep changing the identity and access management game-and threatening to make traditional identity and access management investments inadequate and obsolete. As a result, organizations are looking for more flexible and adaptable approaches that can facilitate easy and secure access management among and between internal systems, trusted external organizations, web-based collaboration solutions and (most recently) cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) applications.
