New Software—Novell Linux Desktop
You saved money by switching to a Linux server; imagine the savings-and peace of mind-you'll realize after deploying Novell® Linux Desktop.
Novell Linux Desktop includes the following key applications for collaboration, productivity and ease of management:
- Novell Evolution™; 2 for collaboration
- OpenOffice.org (the Novell enhanced edition) for creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations
- Mozilla Firefox for Internet browsing
- Novell iFolder® for productivity and backup
- Citrix ICA client for accessing applications hosted on a remote server
- Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing PDF files
- Macromedia Flash Player— for using rich, interactive Web content
- Automated installation and management tools— for simple, cost-effective administration
- And much more....
Novell Linux Desktop is not about the wholesale replacement of your Windows systems: it's about identifying where and when an open source desktop can be a sensible, cost-effective alternative. It can be deployed, for example, as a general-purpose desktop platform or tailored for use in information kiosks, call-center terminals or stations for infrequent PC users. Novell Linux Desktop also provides an ideal alternative to high-cost, UNIX-based engineering workstations. And Novell Linux Desktop users can comfortably interoperate with Windows-based users, within or between organizations.
What's more, powered by SUSE LINUX, Novell Linux Desktop provides both the strong security necessary to fully protect your data and the reliability you need to keep personnel productive. SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server was the first open source operating system to receive Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 3+ security certification, and it is currently on target for 4+—a new high for Linux software. Novell Linux Desktop is also extremely reliable: both Novell and SUSE have well-deserved reputations for reliability—with customers reporting uptimes of over a year.
Finally, backing by Novell allows businesses to deploy Novell Linux Desktop with confidence. Novell brings a complete enterprise software ecosystem to Linux, providing technical support, training, consulting, indemnification and the extended partner network you require when deploying a strategic platform.
