Advanced and Expanded Resources

Updated LogicSource for eDirectory

This month's release of LogicSource for eDirectory elaborates on Novell eDirectory protocol specifications. This section is geared towards those of you experienced in C programming and software engineering who want an in-depth look at the protocol verbs and agent routines used in eDirectory. Two new sections let you sink your teeth deeper into the discussion. The section on 'eDirectory Structures' lists the data types for eDirectory verbs. And in the section on 'eDirectory Protocols Suites,' you can explore how eDirectory uses IPX and IP and their supporting routing and service location protocols

In addition, two chapters have been added to the 'Understanding eDirectory' section:

  • Reading NDS iMonitor Statistics— Because the data in NDS iMonitor can be confusing, we've added this chapter. The initial section covers the Partition Synchronization view, while subsequent sections cover the rest of the NDS iMonitor views.
  • The LDAP Attribute userPassword—LDAP has several hardcoded special attributes, including userPassword. We've added this chapter to explain how userPassword is designed and how to manage this attribute.

Finally, this month's update to LogicSource for eDirectory is your authoritative guide to eDirectory verbs. It includes definitions for all of the verbs in the enhanced Protocol Specifications section. You can use this section to look up documentation for any eDirectory verb. And as you become familiar with the verbs, you'll have more flexibility in using eDirectory.

  • RiteHere: Identify Effective File Systems Rights—identifies the eDirectory users with effective rights in one or more specified directories
