Indications

This update is required for the security update of UCD SNMP as described in article "Security update for ucdsmnp" (http://sdb.suse.de/en/psdb/html/46f96a9b433777bb77f3abf04b257f26.html) to succeed.

Problem description

The update for the UCD SNMP package (PSDB article "Security update for ucdsmnp" (http://sdb.suse.de/en/psdb/html/46f96a9b433777bb77f3abf04b257f26.html)) requires packages with binaries linked against libsnmp.so to be recompiled. Ethereal is linked dynamically against libsnmp and needs to be updated to remain functional.
No changes were made to the ethereal package except for the changed dependency.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

Download the updated UCD SNMP package as described in PSDB article "Security update for ucdsmnp" (http://sdb.suse.de/en/psdb/html/46f96a9b433777bb77f3abf04b257f26.html)
Download the updated ethereal package for your product from the location noted below.
Install both packages with rpm -Uvh ethereal.rpm ucdsnmp.rpm
Restart the SNMP daemon with rcsnmpd restart
