Tally Systems FAQ regarding product transition for PowerCensus, WebCensus, Cenergy, and CentaMeter
On April 25, 2005 Novell completed the acquisition of Tally Systems to expand its Novell® ZENworks® systems management offering.
Below, you will find answers to common questions about when and how product and support transitions will take place for the products listed above. This page addresses questions about product continuity, upgrade entitlements, maintenance, technical support, and special offers.

PowerCensus
Q. Will PowerCensus continue to be sold?
A. License and maintenance sales of PowerCensus will cease as of April 30, 2005.
Q. I am an existing PowerCensus customer€”do I have an upgrade path?
A. The upgrade path for PowerCensus customers will be to the Asset Inventory component of ZENworks Asset Management 7.0 (targeted for release in summer '05). All PowerCensus customers under current maintenance agreements as of the release of ZENworks Asset Management 7.0 are entitled to the Asset Inventory component of ZENworks Asset Management.
Q. Is the Asset Inventory component of ZENworks Asset Management equivalent to PowerCensus?
A. The Asset Management Asset Inventory component represents a significant functional enhancement to PowerCensus.
Q. When can I upgrade from PowerCensus to the Asset Inventory component of ZENworks Asset Management?
A. If you are current under maintenance, you can upgrade when ZENworks Asset Management 7.0 is released and any time during your current maintenance term.
Q. What about technical support under my current PowerCensus maintenance agreement?
A. We will provide technical support under all existing PowerCensus maintenance agreements.
Q. Can I renew my existing PowerCensus maintenance agreement?
A. During the transition period (effective March 31, 2005 through the release of ZENworks Asset Management 7.0) PowerCensus customers can purchase what will be known as TS.Census maintenance (at existing PowerCensus pricing) in accordance with the upgrade path discussed in the second question above.
Q. Will Knowledgebase (Product Recognition Updates - PRUs) and software updates still be made available for PowerCensus?
A. Yes. PRUs and software updates will be made available through the term of current PowerCensus maintenance agreements.
WebCensus
Q. Will WebCensus continue to be sold?
A. No. Novell will not continue to sell new subscriptions, license increases, or subscription renewals as of April 30, 2005.
Q. What if I already have an existing account?
A. Existing accounts will be maintained as-is through existing subscription end dates.
Q. Can I order a data export?
A. Yes. Existing customers can order data exports through their current subscription end date.
Q. Is there an upgrade path from WebCensus to Novell technology?
A. While WebCensus shares some of the same underlying discovery and inventory as ZENworks Asset Management, there is not an upgrade path from one to the other.
Q. Will free WebCensus accounts still be available on the Business Software Alliance (BSA) web site?
A. The free BSA accounts will no longer be available as of May 31, 2005.
Cenergy
Q. Will Cenergy continue to be sold?
A. No. Novell will not continue to sell new licenses, license increases, or maintenance renewals as of April 30, 2005.
Q. What about current maintenance agreements?
A.Technical support and software updates will be provided to customers through their current maintenance end dates.
Q. Is there an upgrade path from Cenergy to Novell ZENworks?
A.Cenergy customers who also own TS.Census should refer to this page for information about their upgrade path.
For Cenergy customers, Novell is offering Cenergy customers a 50% discount off the list price of ZENworks Suite, Desktop Management, or Server Management from May 2, 2005 until October 31, 2005.
CentaMeter
Q. Will Technical Support for CentaMeter still be offered?
A. All current Technical Support agreements for CentaMeter will be honored through their current end dates but renewals will not be offered as of April 30, 2005.
