If you want to install NDS eDirectory and Microsoft Active Directory on the same Windows 2000 Server( or simply maintain a two-directory server), here are some tips to follow.

Install Active Directory on the Windows 2000 Server first. This will use the default LDAP ports (389 and 636).

Install NDS eDirectory and select different LDAP ports (don't use ports 389 and 636).

Following the above order is very important because Active Directory doesn't allow you to use different LDAP ports other than default LDAP ports.

If you want to configure and use Novell DirXML in the above scenerio, verify that Active Directory and NDS eDirectory are communicating on their configured LDAP ports.
