If you have a client that supports both IPX and IP, and the first server you log into (after a reboot) doesn't support IP, you may not be guaranteed an IP connection with subsequent logins to servers that do support IP. To guarantee that you get an IP connection when you log into a server that supports IP, perform the following steps:

  1. Click on the Advanced button on the Novell Client Login window.

  2. Delete the default Tree and Context fields.

  3. Type the IP address of the server (to be logged into) in the Server field.

  4. Click the OK button.

This will almost always guarantee an IP connection when logging in. In order to guarantee an IP connection 100% of the time, reboot the client before performing these steps.
