I am having issues with authenticating an application to an sql2000 datastore. I have suggested migrating user information to our eDirectory LDAP server and have users authenticate via LDAP, which is extremely stable. Can the ODBC driver help in this integration/synchronization?

The ODBC driver is read/only. You might try ICE, which can convert into LDAP from a delimited file. Or if you want ongoing synchronization, use DirXML.
