Q.

Does anyone know if it's possible to set a user's GroupWise password from LDAP?

A.

The GroupWise password is not stored in eDirectory, but is set internally in the GroupWise software. As a result, you cannot modify it via LDAP. There are GroupWise APIs to do this: You can "clear" and "set" a GroupWise user's password by using the GroupWise Administrative Object API--assuming you have administrative rights.

However, when GroupWise engineers wrote the API, they did not want to provide a method to "get" the password. A new "Object" API method will also soon be available which will allow any user to change their own password. It currently does not exist in the GroupWise Object API.
