Administering Large eDirectory Trees

Articles and Tips: qna

Q.

What should we use to administer and/or manage eDirectory Trees in excess of 40,000 users? Can we use the NWAdmin utility, or do we need to use ConsoleOne or iManager?

Large-Tree Larry

A.

Dear Large-Tree: The NWAdmin utility can handle large trees easily. Even NetWare 4.x implementations had trees with over 80,000 objects, but they were highly distributed. The number of objects in the tree may not be important, as a lot depends on the tree design. Also, ConsoleOne and iManager have no difficulty managing this many objects.
