Q.
I am running a NetWare server farm consisting of NetWare 5.x servers. Some of these servers are 5.0, while some are 5.1 with the appropriate Support Packs installed. Discounting NNS for a moment, how do I add additional space to a traditional NetWare volume on these servers?

Dear Adam: Check to make sure that you have the additional space available on an existing hard drive. If you don't, physically add a hard drive. Next you want to load NWCONFIG on the server's console screen. Go to Standard Disk Options | Scan for additional devices (this is so NetWare will see your new drive). Skip this if NetWare already sees the drive. Go to Modify disk partitions and hot fix in standard disk options. Create a NetWare disk partition, putting in the size you want. Press <F10> to save changes. Then press Escape to return to Available Disk Options.
Choose NetWare Volume Options and Highlight the volume to which you want to add space. Press <Ins> to Add/View/Modify volume segments. Highlight the free space you want to add to the volume and press Enter. Choose to make this segment part of another volume. Choose the volume and press Enter. Escape out and say Yes to save the volume changes. You should be in business!
