Sluggish Performance Using iFolder

Articles and Tips: qna

Q.

I am a Novell fan and with that I mean I am using all Novell products in my IS solution. I have discovered that I am getting sluggish performance with iFolder. I do use both BorderManager and iChain in my configuration. I guess you could say that I access iFolder through one of these products at any one time. Help!

Dear Sluggish: If they are accessing iFolder through a BorderManager or iChain reverse proxy, users are likely to experience extreme performance delays. A tweaking of the proxy server's TCP settings will vastly improve performance. Simply type

set tcp delayed ack=off

at the NetWare (proxy server) console prompt and restart the server. The performance boost is amazing. (This information is also available at Novell Cool Solutions, http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/)
