Q.
Dear Ab-end: I've been trying to install a VPN client on a Windows 2000 workstation. No matter how many times I've tried, it keeps failing with the same error message: "vptunnel driver not loaded." I've already tried all the steps in the readme files. Can you help me? - Flailing in Fairmont
A.
Dear Flailing: Before abandoning all hope, try this: Copy the VPTUNNEL.SYS and BMNOTIFY.DLL files from the *** directory (CD?) into the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory. You will want to replace these files. Then reboot your workstation and re-install the client.
If you still have problems, search for which OEMnum.INF file has the string NETBM.INF, then rename this OEMnum.INF file to some other name. Reboot your machine and re-install the VPN client. (Answer contributed by Robert Ridley, Novell Inc.)
