Dear Ab-end: I have a new 24 GB hard drive, but my NetWare server can only see 8 GB of it. Do you have any hints for me?

Dear Can't Believe: It's hard to know what's causing your problem, as you could be facing any of a number of issues. The first thing I'd do is to make certain that my BIOS supports the larger hard drives. This type of issue is commonly found in Pentiums older than the Pentium II, so make certain that you have the latest BIOS for your machine.
This problem usually doesn't happen with larger SCSI hard drives, only with IDE hard drives that are larger than 8.4 GB. All IDE hard drives larger than 8.4GB are Ultra DMA33 and are handled by the UDMA BIOS. All Pentiums II and later have the Ultra DMA BIOS.
Also, the IDE drivers that shipped before NetWare 4.2 don't support NetWare partitions larger than 8.4 GB. Make certain you're running the newest IDEHD.CDM and IDEHD.DDI drivers from IWSP6.EXE or later. These new versions will support IDE hard drives larger than 8.4GB. You must use the IDEATA.HAM driver to use IDEHD.CDM AND IDEHD.DDI drivers. (Answer taken from TIDs 10020227and 2941184)
