NDS Packet Filtering on NetWare 5 Servers

Articles and Tips: qna

01 Feb 2001

Q.

Dear Ab-end: My NetWare 5 server has two network adapters that are both bound to IP. I want one of the boards to exclusively handle NDS services such as synchronization and time synchronization, while the other one will exclusively handle LDAP services. How should I configure the server?

A.

Dear Filtering: It sounds like you want to do NDS packet filtering. To set this up, use the following set commands:

SET NCP EXCLUDE IP ADDRESSES (default = NONE)
and
SET NCP INCLUDE IP ADDRESSES (default = ALL)

Usually, you would exclude the public interface on a BorderManager server so that it doesn't present the blocked interface in NDS referral lists. (Answer supplied by Ross Irvine of Novell)
