Q.

Dear Ab-end: How do I install a root certificate from NetWare 5 into Internet Explorer?

-- Certifiable in Spokane

A.

Dear Certifiable: To install a root certificate from a NetWare 5 server into Internet Explorer, just follow these steps:

  1. Access the secure page. The Security Alert dialog starts.

  2. Click the View Certificate button. This initiates a Certificate dialog.

  3. Select the Certification Path tab.

  4. Select Organization CA Certificate | View Certificate. This initiates a new Certificate dialog.

  5. If you're satisfied with this certificate, click the General tab | Install Certificate. This initiates the Certificate Manager Import Wizard.

  6. Select Next on each dialog presented.

  7. Select Finish. The Root Certificate Store dialog, pops up showing you all of the information for the Root Certificate and asking if you want to add the certificate to the Root Store.

  8. Select Yes. (A dialog pops up saying the import was successful.)

  9. Select OK on all of the remaining dialogs to get back to the Security Alert dialog.

  10. Select Yes to access the page.

From now on, any time you access this server, the Security Dialog won't appear. (Answer provided by Michael Spong of Novell)
