SCMD.NLM in NetWare 5's Service Pack 4 (NW5SP4) is not compatible

Q.

Dear Ab-end: It appears that the SCMD.NLM in NetWare 5's Service Pack 4 (NW5SP4) is not compatible with a least some of the older versions of the SCMD.NLM. I upgraded one of three Migration Agents to NetWare 5 Service Pack 4 and it stopped communicating with the other Migration Agents on the backbone. That is, SAPs from the other two LANs were not visible from the LAN where I had applied the support pack to the Migration Agent. The other Migration Agents were still on NetWare 5 Service Pack 2. Downgrading just the SCMD.NLM file to the old version that was in Service Pack 2 brought IPX communications back to normal. Is this the best way to go? How soon will this get fixed?

Dear Migrating: Nirupma Kulshrestha of Novell India states the following: ";Yes, there is a bug in the Migration Agent-to-Migration Agent communication in the SCMD.NLM that was released in both NetWare 5 Service Pack 3 and Service Pack 4. This bug is visible only when Migration Agent is loaded in NOSLP Mode. This bug has been fixed and is available in NetWare 5 Service Pack 5 (NW5SP5) and in Cobra (NetWare 5.1) Support Pack 1.

";There'll be compatibility problems if any of the Migration Agent in the CMD network is loaded with Service Pack 3 or Service Pack 4 running in NOSLP Mode. There won't be any problem with SP3 or SP4 running on any of the Migration Agents that use SLP Mode. Also, the SCMD.NLM that is released with NetWare 5 Service Pack 5 is fully compatible with SP2 (and previous releases) in both SLP and NOSLP Mode.";
