Q.

Dear Ab-end: I have a Macintosh LC-475 on my network. When using the GroupWise Client 5.2, I consistently get this terse error message: "Error Type 1". Any idea what this error message means?

A.

Dear Confused: Guess what? Your problem is a Macintosh problem and has nothing to do with GroupWise. The old Mac supporters I went to on this question informed me that Error Type 1 is a generic error code that pretty much means, "Your machine is ancient and ought to be replaced." The error itself is harmless, so if you don't mind clicking "Cancel", you should be able to run the GroupWise Client without any adverse effects. But you really ought to consider getting a newer computer!
