Problem description

The new version of the free office package OpenOffice.org is the all-rounder among free office programs. At the same time, it is the free version of the new version of the well-known StarOffice 7. As usual, the new version 1.1 comprises all central office components for text processing, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, formulas, and HTML editing. Furthermore, it also features some impressive new features, such as greatly improved MS Office compatibility, comfortable export of PDF files with a mouse click, import and export of all kinds of XML formats, and export of presentations in flash format. Using the improved macro recorder, command series can be saved as keyboard shortcuts, e.g. for formatting texts and tables.

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh OpenOffice_org.rpm

You may also want to install one or more additional language packs, e. g. the one for german:


rpm -Fvh OpenOffice_org-de.rpm
