Indications

Everyone using PAM and LDAP should update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

If using user-authentification to LDAP (with YaST) and the connection to the LDAP-Server (remote) is disconnected, no root logins are possible anymore. (root is locally in the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow)
Password cannot be changed in KDM when it has been expired.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh pam-modules.rpm
