Indications

Everyone running DHCP with DDNS service should update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

This update adds a fix from 3.0.1rc14 to the dynamical DNS code that restricts
the total length of DDNS domain names with client provided hostnames to 255
characters, to avoid possible security problems. These problems may possibly
be exploited by remote users to execute arbitrary code. Only DHCP servers
configured for dynamical DNS are affected.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh dhcp.rpm
