Indications

This update should be installed if you are using leafnode.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

The configuration files in /etc/leafnode as well as the directory itself and the executables of the package belonged to the user news and where writeable for the daemon. This would make it possible for a compromised leafnode daemon to rewrite its own configuration or even exchange the executables to install a root shell spawner.
Write permission to the above mentioned files and directory is only needed for the system administrator.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh leafnode.rpm
