Problem description

This update fixes two overflows in the handling of message/external-body type (buffer overflow) and in MIME header parsing (integer overflow), identified as CAN-2003-0720 and CAN-2003-0721, reported by iDEFENSE, Inc.
These errors can lead pine to misbehave when erroneously formed emails are being processed. The result can be a crash of the pine program, or that arbitrary code as provided by a remote attacker via email is being executed.
Due to the nature of pine's functionality (processing email data received from unidentified, non-trustworthy sources), it is strongly recommended to install this update package on all systems that have the pine package installed.

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
