Indications

Everyone using large systems with more than 236 CPUs should install this update.

Contraindications

None.

Description

This update makes the number of udev-started processes which can be run simultaniously during boot configurable by adjusting /etc/sysconfig/udev (e.g., with YaST.) The update will have no effect unless the system has more than approx. 236 CPUs and the default settings have been adjusted.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh udev.rpm
