Indications

Everyone using the Linux Kernel on x86_64 architecture should update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

This update fixes a problem within the NVidia driver which lead to a hanging system after reboot during start of the X11 window system.
This happens to all users who installed the nvidia driver via YOU and therefore still used the 1.0-5336 version of the nvidia driver, after updating to the previous kernel update (2.6.5-7.145). Users who don't use the nvidia driver or use a later version of the driver are not affected.
To install the update on an affected system, boot the 9.1 system into runlevel 3 (by supplying "3" as commandline argument on the boot prompt), then log in as root and run the textmode version of the YaST Online Update.
