Indications

This update should be installed if you want to use a BCM5700 based network card.

Problem description

This update adds support for BCM5700 based network cards to the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 and is needed if you want to install SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 via this network card.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

To install this update, please follow this procedure:

Unpack the image and write it to a floppy disk: gpg -o bcm5700.disk --decrypt bcm5700-sles7 dd if=bcm5700.disk of=/dev/fd0 bs=8k
If you boot the system from CD, just make sure the driver disk is also in the drive; the installer will pick up the driver automatically.
If you boot from floppy, just press the <ALT> key when the boot screen is shown. The installer will prompt you for the driver disk later on.
