Indications

This update should be installed by everyone needing login names with captial letters or a full stop character (".").

Contraindications

None.

Description

This update enables the creation of login names that contain capital letters or the full stop character ("."), such as "Firstname.Lastname". Please note that various applications may not accept login names above a certain length or with punctation marks. Furthermore, some services such as e-mail do not differentiate the case of the login name.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh shadow.rpm
