This kernel update for Linux kernel 2.4.13 is highly recommended to improve the stability on pSeries systems.



Problem description

This kernel update improves the stability on pSeries systems. The following problems were fixed:
  • kernel stack corruption
  • time drifts when running ntpd
  • enable autofs
  • improve the HVC console on p690 regatta systems
  • support for nvram modifications
  • update JFS to 1.0.20
  • add fibre channel driver for Emulex cards, modulename: lpfcdd.o
  • add network driver for Intel EtherExpress 100/1000, modulename: e100.o, e1000.o
  • ReiserFS fixes


Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh kernel-ppc64.rpm
Now reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
