Description

This patch for YaST Online Update enables installation of maintenance updates from the SuSE Maintenance Web and from Patch CDs.
It will ask for the registration code and password before patches can be downloaded from the SuSE Maintenance Web.

Installation notes

Before the update can be installed please make sure that wget (which is on the CDROM media you have recieved) is available on your system. The following command should return, along with other information, the name, version and release of the wget package:
rpm -qi wget
Please install wget if it returns "package wget is not installed".
Then add the following lines to the file /var/lib/YaST/update.inf:
Product_Name: SuSE-SLES
Product_Version: 7
Afterwards the update itself can easily be installed onto a running system by using the following commands:


rpm -Uhv yast2-core-pkginfo.rpm yast2-config-online-update.rpm yast2-trans-online-update.rpm

Hint: YaST Online Update can be started directly from the command line with
yast2 online_update
