Indications

All users on pSeries POWER5 systems should update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

Logical partitions on pSeries POWER5 systems on which AIX and Linux is installed need this update for the yaboot bootloader.
yaboot will fail to claim memory for the initrd.
The problem occurs if one boots into AIX on a partition and then try to boot into Linux afterwards on the same partition.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:


rpm -Fvh lilo.rpm
