Problem description

A remotely exploitable denial of service vulnerability has been discovered. A heap buffer overflow can be triggered due to insufficient memory allocation while escaping characters of an email address. Subsequently Pine will crash if it receives and email with a malicious header. The causative mail has to be removed manually or with another mail user agent.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh pine.rpm
