Beside the security issue install the Samba update if you'd like to rename
workstations, if you have trouble while using eDirectory to store Samba
attributes, or if you mentioned a performance degradation while accessing



Problem description

This update fixes several issues in the Samba smbd daemon:
  • Fix memory exhaustion DoS; CVE-2006-3403; [#190468].
  • Change log level of debug message to avaoid flodded nmbd log; [#157623].
  • Honour 'sn' attribute for eDir; [#176799].
  • Remove SO_SNDBUF and SO_RCVBUF from socket options example; [#165723].
  • Return domain name in samrquerydominfo 5; [#172756].
  • Don't assume account objectclass for eDir; [#160169].
  • Fix LDAP replication sleep handling for search requests; [#118378].
  • Don't ever set O_SYNC on open unless "strict sync = yes"; [#165431].
  • Send correct workstation name to prevent NT_STATUS_INVALID_WORKSTATION beeing returned in samlogon; [#148645], [#161051].
  • Create the precompiled headers with exactly the same flags as the binaries.
  • Allow to rename machine accounts. Fixed crash against eDirectory, [#140877].
  • Return NT_STATUS_ACCOUNT_DISABLED if eDirectory returns LDAP_UNWILLING_TO_PERFORM; [#138491].


Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.
