Problem description

The password handling code of pam_smb is vulnerable to a remote buffer
overflow due to not checking the length of the password string. This
bug makes it possible for a remote attacker to compromise the system
using pam_smb.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh pam_smb.rpm
