Problem description

iDEFENSE security reported a buffer overflow problem in the libtiff library, which could allow a remote attacker to execute code as the viewing user by using a handcrafted TIFF image file. This bug also affects the tiffdump utility in the tiff RPM package.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh tiff.rpm
