Install this update if you use rsync in server mode.

Contraindications

None.

Description

This update fixes an exploitable heap overflow in rsync. This problem has no security impact if rsync is run over an authenticated SSH connection or similar, because rsync runs with the privilege of the authenticated user. However, if rsync is run in server mode (i.e. invoked from inetd to handle anonymous downloads), the bug becomes relevant to security.
