Indications

Update to run current Oracle products on SLES9.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

Fix default groups for user oracle, add workaround for usage of glibc internal
symbols by Oracle.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh orarun.rpm
After the update you need to change the groups of the user oracle, e.g.:
usermod -G dba,disk oracle

Important note

If the user oracle is already in groups not listed above you need to add the other groups to this command. Otherwise he won't be in these groups anymore. So you need to modify the above command accordingly to fit the needs of your group setup. If you install via SP2 the groups are already set correctly.
