Problem description

This security update for YOU (YaST Online Update) ensures that the correct version of the packages is to be installed. In former releases the possibility existed of older packages being installed by YOU.
Further bugfixes:
  • YOU will take care of the installation order of the patches.
  • YOU can be started within and works correctly with KDE now.
  • Patch-CD-modus: YOU does not try to get the serverlist via wget.
  • You does not compare alphanumeric versions any longer.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

Before the update can be installed please make sure that wget (which is on the CDROM media you have recieved) is available on your system. The following command should return, along with other information, the name, version and release of the wget package:
rpm -qi wget
Please install wget if it returns "package wget is not installed".
For the "SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 for S/390 and zSeries" the file /var/lib/YaST/update.inf needs two additional entries:
Product_Name: SuSE-SLES
Product_Version: 7
Please do not add these lines if you are not running the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7.
Afterwards the update itself can easily be installed onto a running system by using the following commands:
rpm -Fhv yast2-core-pkginfo.rpm rpm -Fhv yast2-config-online-update.rpm
