Indications

Everyone using programs that utilize xine-lib, such as xine or gxine, should install this update.

Contraindications

None.

Description

When you use xine or gxine to play an audio CD, the program will connect to a CDDB server to retrieve the record's artist and title as well as the song titles. The program writes this information to a cache file, and the code in xine-lib that performs this action suffers from a format string security bug, allowing remote execution of arbitrary code through specially crafted CDDB entries. This patch fixes this problem.

Solution
