Patch: patch-11180
Release: 20060905
Obsoletes: none

Indications

Everyone using 32-bit mode GTK2 applications on 64-bit mode systems should install this update.

Contraindications

Statically linked 64-bit mode GTK2 applications, or dynamically linked 64-bit mode GTK2 applications which customize GTK_PATH, could show problems if they dynamically load further libraries.

Problem description

When searching for libraries, both 64-bit applications and 32-bit applications are using the environment variable GTK_PATH. This is set to point to the 64 bit libraries only. Subsequently, a 32-bit mode application would not be able to find its libraries.
This update introduces the additional environment variable GTK_PATH64 for the library search path for 64-bit mode GTK2 applications. GTK_PATH will be used by by 32-bit mode applications only.
