Obsoletes: none

Indications

Install this update if you use NFS, regardless of whether as a server
or client.

Problem description

There is a one-byte buffer overflow in the logging functions of statd and mountd. It is unclear on what SuSE Linux products this overflow would be exploitable, if at all. Given that rpc.mountd and rpc.statd run as root user, however, we release these updates for all SuSE products as a matter of caution. In particular, we urge SLES7 customers to upgrade as soon as possible.
