solutions Optional update for the e1000 driver SuSE Linux Maintenance Web (844e71cbdd1a55aed87c4d742b20a8d5)
Package: e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.bz2
Release: 20040316
Obsoletes: none
(Service Pack 3). This update provides the current version as a driver image
for use during installation.
- First, download the disk image (for the URL please see below) and check its GnuPG signature with:
gpg --verify e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.bz2.asc
The output of this command should be:gpg: Signature made Tue Mar 5 16:01:54 2002 CET using DSA key ID 9C800ACA gpg: Good signature from "SuSE Package Signing Key <build@suse.de>" [..] gpg: Fingerprint: 79C1 79B2 E1C8 20C1 890F 9994 A84E DAE8 9C80 0ACA
Note: You need a working Linux system with GnuPG installed. For other systems please refer to http://www.gnupg.org on how to install and use GnuPG. You will also need the public SuSE Package Signing Key (build@suse.de, ID 9C800ACA), available from http://www.suse.de/de/support/security/build_pgp.html. The fingerprint of this key is 79C1 79B2 E1C8 20C1 890F 9994 A84E DAE8 9C80 0ACA. The public SuSE Build Key is also included in the public key ring of user 'root' on a SuSE Linux System since version 7.1 and on the first CD or DVD. If the output is ok, you can decrypt the file:gpg -o /tmp/e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.bz2 -d e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.bz2.asc
and afterwards uncompress the file:bunzip2 -c -d /tmp/e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.bz2 > /tmp/e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.floppy
This creates the file /tmp/e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.floppy. Copy the file e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.floppy to a floppy disk:dd if=e1000-5.2.30.1-SLES8-SP3.floppy of=/dev/fd0 bs=8k
-
- if you boot the system from CD, just make sure the driver disk is also in the drive; the installer will pick up the driver automatically
- if you boot from floppy, just press the <ALT> key when the boot screen is shown. The installer will prompt you for the driver disk later on.
