Problem description

A segmentation fault occurs when pvcreate is run for a DASD or MDISK that does not exist.
For example, when lvmdiskscan only lists disks
/dev/dasda1 and /dev/dasdb1, running
pvcreate /dev/dasdc1 results in pvcreate crashing
with a segmentation fault.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh lvm.rpm
