Package: imlib
Release: 20020402
Obsoletes: none

Indications

This bugfix should be installed.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

If support for TIFF, PNG, JPEG or GIF had not been compiled into imlib, it used to call the external NetPBM tools as fallback, which is known to be unsafe. Imlib also had bugs in its malloc() handling.
The support for external helpers has been removed and the mallocs were checked for possible overflows.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh imlib.rpm
You should stop all running applications that were linked against
imlib and start them again. This is best done by switching to
single-user mode and switching back:
  1. Switch to single-user mode: init 1
  2. Switch back to your usual runlevel (3 or 5) init 3
