Novell Linux Desktop 9 for x86_64
Patch: patch-10643
Release: 20051205
Obsoletes: none

Indications

Everyone should update.

Contraindications

None.

Problem description

  • On SLES, the wm_shutdown function did not work because a normal user usually cannot shut down the machine via KDM and we use the kdm function. This version does the KDM dcop call, waits for max. 10 seconds for kde to terminate and after that issues "shutdown -h".
  • Additionally, a plain "shutdown" and a "reboot" function are added to powersave_proxy, "shutdown" does exactly that - shutdown without any KDE foo and reboot does the same, but reboots instead of shutting down.
