Problem description

A logic error in the deferred open code can lead to an infinite loop in Samba's smbd daemon (CVE-2007-0452).
In addition the version string of binaries reported by the -V option now include the package version control system version number.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Fvh samba.rpm
