Problem description

In SLES 9, mkinitrd creates an initrd which activates all volume groups from LVM, ignoring the settings in /etc/sysconfig/lvm. With this update, mkinitrd behaves the same as on SLES10 and writes an initrd that activates only the root volume group. Other volume groups will be activated later by the boot scripts.

Solution

Please install the updates provided at the location noted below.

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh mkinitrd.rpm
