Problem description

This update for the JFS userland tools fixes some PPC related bugs. Older versions of jfsprogs can lead to filesystem corruption using fsck.jfs. An update is strongly recommended.
This patch includes IBM code drops 49 (1.0.11) to 55 (1.0.17).
List of important changes:
  • fixes for fsck.jfs, xchklog and xpeek on big endian machines
  • more rigorous dtree validation in fsck.jfs
  • fsck.jfs exit codes conform to fsck now
  • fixes typecast problem causing fsck.jfs "corrupt superblock" error message</bulletitem> <bulletitem>fsck.jfs updates maps on automatic check now
  • updated documentation and error messages

Installation notes

This update is provided as an RPM package that can easily be installed onto a running system by using this command:
rpm -Uvh jfsprogs.rpm
